Michael Cole Uses Derogatory Word on Twitter, Apologizes (+ a poll)

News, Top Story

Michael Cole called Josh Mathews a derogatory word for homosexual (beginning with the letter f) on Twitter, then deleted it and posted an apology, not too long after WWE had to apologize to GLAAD over questionable remarks from John Cena interviews, according to WrestlingObserver.com. That makes sense considering some of the implications Cena made about The Rock being gay at least in one on-air promo.

Michael Cole’s apology tweets:

“I apologize to any and all who were offended by my tweet toward young Josh Mathews. It was obviously not meant the way it was taken.”

“I was not ordered to apologize I said I am sorry because I am. Now can I get back to being a character again please?”

A story on this including screen caps of the original tweet, as well as WWE’s statement that it notified GLAAD about the situation and will have Cole do a training session about this is up at TMZ.com.

Not sure if this is in response to Cole’s comment or something silly like the Chicago weather, Mathews just tweeted, “Just landed in Chicago. I’m outraged!”
