Thor About To Successfully Break Out In New Movie Clip

Media, Video

In a few weeks time, Marvel Comics and Paramount Pictures will kick start the summer season (sorry Fast and Furious fans who think the summer starts on April 29th) with the release of Thor, the first of three Marvel properties heading to the big screen this summer (a new X-Men release and Captain America movie are the other two).

With a strong pedigree in the director’s chair Kenneth Branagh brings his history of overseeing various Shakespearean adaptations to tackle this tale of a wayward soul – a god, really – who defends humanity after being cast down to Earth.

In this latest clip, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) tries to break out of the facility where he’s being held.

The Mighty Thor is a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Based on the comic Thor created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Larry Lieber, the film adaptation stars Chris Hemsworth, of Star Trek and A Perfect Getaway previously, as the mighty Thor. He’s joined by Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Colm Feore, Ray Stevenson, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins. J. Michael Straczynski and Mark Protosevich’s story was expanded into a screenplay by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz and Don Payne.

Thor opens in the U.S. on May 6th.
