Ever since he defeated James Irvin, Anderson Silva has been the subjection of speculation as to whether the dominant middleweight champion would be interested making a permanent move to light heavyweight. Silva’s victories against Irvin and Forrest Griffin suggested that he would find success at the weight but as the possibility of a Super-Fight against the welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre grew stronger Silva understandably chosed to stay at 185Ibs. Fighters Only today carries a news story in which Silva’s training partner Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira claims Silva will defend against Yushin Okami at UFC: Rio and then move up in weight due to lack of adversaries at middleweight. Such a move would surely be a sign that Georges St. Pierre has indeed decided against challenging Silva and could instead set up a mouthwatering clash between Silva and current light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
