Mauro Ranallo Discusses Keith Jardine-Gegard Mousasi Strikeforce Battle

News

MiddleEasy’ talked to Strikeforce/Showtime announcer Mauro Ranallo after this Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley” card to get his final thoughts on how the Gegard Mousasi-Keith Jardine fight could be declared a majority draw.

Ranallo claims that he would “give” the first round to Jardine (indicating that it would be a 10-9 round as he was “given” the nod there) but only states that it would be a 9-9 score for that frame. A bit of revisionist sideline refereeing?

Jardine was judged by by our very own Chris Roberts to have won the first round and with the point deduction and losing the next two rounds, the fight is a draw. Unless you change how you score the first based on the impressions of the rest of the fight (as some think happened in the BJ Penn-Jon Fitch fight at UFC 127), we think they got it right.

Thoughts?
