10 Thoughts on WWE Raw 04.11.2011 – Long Live The Spear, Edge’s Announcement, New #1 Contender, Sin Cara Debuts

Reviews, Top Story

Welcome to my 10 Thoughts on WWE Monday Night Raw!  This week is sure to be an exciting one and I’m ready to go!  So without any more hesitations let’s get into it.

1.  It’s amazing how one segment can send a viewer into a variety of emotions.  For instance, I saw Cena come out and I was indifferent.  Orton came out next and I became entranced with what was going on.  Morrison’s music hits and I’m on the edge of my seat hoping JoMo doesn’t blow it.  Next Dolph comes out and I start getting suspicious thinking either a battle royal or a gauntlet is coming next.  Then I hear ‘Wassup?!’ and I throw my hands up in exasperation.  Sure enough it turns into a gauntlet with the #1 Contendership on the line.

2.  Then we have an ominous video package of a large braided lady thumping the head off of a barbie doll. Hmmm….. *crosses fingers*

3.  The X on the hand to signify which Bella was legal was brilliant and is another case of ‘why didn’t I think of that first?’  Interesting moving the belts over to the Bellas who undoubtedly will pull a LayCool and show up next week with a title apiece.

3a.  So is the segment backstage supposed to mean there will now be a Divas Tag Team Division?  I’d be okay with that.  It’d hide some of the flaws with the Divas Division.

4.  Sin Cara’s debut match wasn’t as great as I was expecting, but I’d definitely take that over a lot of the other superstars on the roster.

5.  Speaking of other superstars on the roster, did anyone think Primo looked pretty good tonight?  I mean that’s the first match he’s had on Raw since… jeez since Carlito was around maybe?  And he took that move off the top pretty well.  Two thumbs up for not losing your job on a move!

6.  So if Santino is the leader of A.P.P.L.E. does that make Evan Bourne… Taka?  Honestly I’d be okay with Santino running a faction as he has the charisma to do it.  However, I’m scared that WWE may be trying to run into the 90’s with their faction wars.  Too many factions isn’t necessarily a good thing.  At least Corre didn’t lose to this embarrassment of a team.

7.  See… I hate schoolboy roll-ups.  It just doesn’t seem like something that should get a three as often as it does.  It’s absurd.  Plus it just makes whoever they are pinning look like an idiot.  Seriously Jack Swagger looked like he was forcing himself to not roll out of it.  Sigh.

8.  Edge… if I knew a way to express my gratitude to one of the greatest of all time and one of my personal favorites other than THANK YOU SO MUCH!… then I would do it.  Edge is one of the greatest that WWE has to offer and he will never be forgotten.  Long Live The Spear and Long Live The Rated R Superstar.

9.  So New Nexus returns tonight, but no CM Punk.  What happened to Punk?  I figured he would have either been in the gauntlet or teamed up with the Nexus to take out Orton.

10.  R-Truth beating Dolph surprised me as he was the only heel left.  R-Truth beating JoMo had me questioning my pick for the win.  R-Truth kicking out of all of Cena’s power moves had me actually…*grits teeth*… rooting for… R-Truth.  Then after the Miz/Riley attack, it became evident that all this push for a guy who really hasn’t been seen since he was used to put over Del Rio before Royal Rumble is just so Miz can have a legit pin over a superstar at a PPV.  Congrats R-Truth for becoming Cena’s scape goat.

And quite frankly my dear… that’s a wrap.
