In March we told that the American Pie franchise would be coming back to the big screen with American Reunion. The only castmembers that had signed on to reprise their roles were Seann William Scott, Jason Biggs and Eugene Levy. Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Jennifer Coolidge are also expected to return. It was unknown if Alyson Hannigan, who played band geek Michelle Flaherty, would make it to the reunion, due to her commitments with the TV sitcom How I Met Your Mother.
When we gave you the scoop of what was in store for the reunion, Hannigan’s character didn’t look to have much play.
However, it does look like she will reprise her role as Michelle. The American Pie faithful are no doubt pleased with this development.
The story is said to involve the friends reuniting for their 10-year high school reunion at East Great Falls high school. Any burning questions you’ve had about Stifler, Jim, Finch, Nadia and more should be answered in this installment.
Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, the duo behind Harold and Kumar, have written the script. That being known, I wonder if John Cho will make an appearance during the reunion. Maybe he’ll have a run-in with Finch and refer to him as Rosenberg (In Harold and Kumar, Eddie Kaye Thomas, who plays Finch in AP, plays Rosenberg.)
No word on an official release date, but Universal is probably eyeing Summer 2012.
