Red Band Trailer For The Change-Up Released

The body-switch comedy is a relatively stale concept, but we seem to get a new one every few years or so. The most recent one that comes to mind is 17 Again with Zac Efron, Matthew Perry, and Leslie Mann. Neither Efron nor Perry are featured in this summer comedy, The Change-Up, but Mann is.

Universal has debuted the first red band trailer for The Change-Up on Moviefone. It is again another body-switch comedy, only the twist is that 1) it is a hard-R comedy, and 2) it involves two grown men (Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds) – rather than a father/son or mother/daughter combo. One (Bateman) is married with two children. The other (Reynolds) is a regular Lothario, a purveyor in booty calls and one-night stands. Yet his life feels empty and he actually envies the life his friend has. Talk about reaching – basically a manwhore who wants to deal with diaper changes and the standard rut.

Still, the red band does deliver quite a few laughs. And as a bonus, Olivia Wilde’s in it too!

The Set-Up: A comedy in which a married guy switches bodies with his lazy best friend in order to woo his co-worker.

The Tag Line: Who says men can’t change?

The Change-Up comes from a director and writing pair who are living off the successes of two of the highest-grossing comedies of all time. David Dobkin, of Wedding Crashers and Fred Claus previously, sits in the director’s chair. The screenplay comes from Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, the pair that gave us The Hangover, but also Rebound, Four Christmases and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.

Universal Pictures will be bringing The Change-Up to theaters on August 5th, hoping that it won’t be a curve ball.
