UFC Signs Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller From Strikeforce

News

MMA Fighting has the story that Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller has inked a deal for his return to the UFC after his deal with Strikeforce expired. The former presenter of MTV’s Bully Beatdown reality programme has been similarly dissatisfied with Strikeforce for some time, having failed to agree terms for matches against Nick Diaz or Tim Kennedy after his return from supsension for his part in the post-event brawl at Strikeforce: Nashville. His best performance in the Strikeforce cage was against Jake Shields, where Miller impressively managed to survive long grappling exchanges against the Cesar Gracie black belt. The charismatic and controversial fighter should add colour to the UFC’s middleweight division and the potential for a fresh marquee opponent for longtime champion Anderson Silva.

On a side note, the fact that the UFC still went after Miller as his contract expired may lead many to conclude that Strikeforce is a lesser priority for the promotion than adding depth to a division that is arguably lacking title contenders. It will be interesting to see what attempt Strikeforce made to retain the services of one of their most popular fighters.
