Still Waiting… – Blu-ray Review

Blu-ray Reviews, Reviews

The crew of Shenaniganz is back – well accept for Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris and Dane Cook – but other than that all your favorites are back.

Dennis (John Michael Higgins) is the manager of the restaurant now, but things aren’t looking so good. Business is down because a Hooters knock off called Tah Tah’s Wing Shack opened up right next door and is stealing all the business. Then Dennis finds out he has to make $9000 in one day in hopes to get a regional manager job.

From there the wackiness begins as we follow a bunch of random cliché, under developed characters through this lifeless blasé film that tries to pass it off as a comedy.

The biggest problem with Still Waiting… is that there are basically only two types of characters: asshole guys and slutty women. There a couple variations but they are few and far between. There is nothing in this film that makes you care about any of these characters

The story is about as uninteresting as a story about a restaurant could get. There were many elements of this film that reminded me of The Slammin’ Salmon, but not nearly as entertaining.

I always try to find at least one nice thing to say about a film when I review it. Sadly, there really wasn’t anything about this film that I found enjoyable. I not sure I even cracked a smile while watching it. Perhaps there is someone out there that can enjoy this film; I’m just not sure who they are.

Still Waiting… is presented in 1.78:1 widescreen 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio with English and Spanish subtitles. I guess this is a good-looking transfer but this definitely isn’t the kind of film that is improved by hi-def.

Commentary: Director Jeff Balis and writer Rob McKittrick talk about the film. McKittrick seems really bitter that this film was direct to DVD and didn’t get a theatrical release. He mentions it an awful lot.

Sloppy Seconds Featurette: (46 min.) I’ve seen a lot of great films that I wish had a 46 min. making of featurettes and they didn’t. When your making of starts with the writer talking about how he didn’t want to write it and they knew it was going to be direct to DVD it makes you wonder why this film got one.

Blooper Reel: (7 min.) These are mildly entertaining.

Deleted/Extended/Alternate Scenes: (23 min.) The only worthwhile part here are the Justin Long outtakes and even those aren’t all that.

Trailers

This isn’t a terrible film, it’s just not a funny film. The acting isn’t so bad I guess, but I really can’t recommend Still Waiting… for anyone. There is a reason this was a direct-to-DVD release.
