National Geographic and YouTube had one simple request: for people to chronicle a single day on Earth. What they got in return was 80,000 submissions and 4,500 hours of footage from 192 countries. Producer Ridley Scott and Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald (One Day in September, The Last King of Scotland) took this raw material — all shot on July 24, 2010 — and created Life in a Day, a groundbreaking, 90 minute doc filled with unforgettable images we call life. We were there when it played at the SXSW Film Festival and walked away amazed, calling it “a movie for our time.” Watch the trailer below to get a glimpse at what our world was like on July 24, 2010.
National Geographic is bringing Life in a Day to theaters beginning July 24, 2011.
