ROH Tag Team Champions’ Match in Dearborn, MI Announced

News

Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly have impressed ROH officials and fans alike since debuting in Ring of Honor, and have gone toe-to-toe with nearly every tag team in the division. In Atlanta during “Honor Takes Center Stage” weekend the young duo battled Jay & Mark Briscoe on one night, then the Kings of Wrestling the following day, and while stellar in both matches, Adam & Kyle failed to pick up a win on either outing.

On the other side of the coin that weekend was Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team: Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin. At “Chapter One”, they ended the nearly year long World Tag Title reign of Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli when Claudio tapped out to the Haas of Pain. Less than 24 hours later at “Chapter Two”, WGTT defeated another of ROH’s top teams, The American Wolves, when Davey Richards got pinned by Benjamin. Then, as we’ve seen, they were confronted by The Briscoes in the locker room and challenged to a title match which has now been set for “ROH Revolution: Canada” in Toronto on May 7th.

But before we get to the Ted Reeve, on May 6th at “ROH Revolution: USA” in Dearborn the paths of these two teams will cross at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center. ROH World Tag Champions Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin vs. Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly in a non-title bout that will once again put the young men to the test.

“They’re an impressive pair.” said Charlie Haas, “Cole and O’Reilly showed their potential in Atlanta against two of the best teams ROH has, and they have a bright future ahead of them. Now though they have to contend with a level of experience they haven’t dealt with before. I know they are going to put up the fight of their lives, and that’s all Shelton and I can ask for. But we won’t take this lightly, that’s the mistake too many people make, and that’s where upsets are born.”

Cole & O’Reilly are in desperate need of securing a win in the tag ranks and a victory over the champions would skyrocket them up the ladder of the ROH tag title division. Can they shock the world, and WGTT, one night before Haas & Benjamin defend their title against The Briscoes? Will Cole & O’Reilly start their own revolution in the tag title ranks during “ROH Revolution” weekend? Be there in person and see all the action for yourself!  Tickets can be purchased right here!

This should be tremendous, in short.  Cole and O’Reilly stole the show in a big way on Honor Takes Center Stage weekend in matches with the Briscoes on Chapter 1, and with then Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling on Chapter 2.  Both were contenders for my Match of the Night honors on their given show, and it appears that ROH has big plans for the young duo.  Look for this match to either be the last match before intermission or towards the top of the card.  Either way, they should get around 15-20 to play with and I’d expect a great match.

This is also where I point out that lucky me gets to sit front row for this show.  Woo!
