Ring Of Honor Announces Next iPPV, Best In The World 2011

News

In an effort to drum up anticipation Ring of Honor officials have announced that the next iPPV will be Best in the World 2011 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Set to transpire Sunday, June 26th, the event will incorporate some of the best wrestlers currently not on the roster and see them compete for one night on the Ring of Honor stage.

Details on the iPPV broadcast can be found here. Tickets are also on sale now in the ROH Online Store.

Ring of Honor officials are also extremely excited to announce the return of Samoa Joe’s protege Jay Lethal. Lethal, who hasn’t stepped foot inside an ROH ring since 2006, started wrestling as Hydro as one of the members of the group Special K at Revenge of the Prophecy in 2003. His career would begin to take off in 2004, when he captured his first championship when he defeated John Walters at Trios Tournament 2005 to win the Pure Title. However, in a student vs. teacher match-up at the first Manhattan Mayhem, Samoa Joe unseated Lethal as champ. But the defeat would lead to a heated feud with Homicide, Low Ki and the Rottweilers. Lethal holds the distinction of being the first man to challenge CM Punk for his newly won title at Sign of Dishonor, during the Summer of Punk. Lethal’s last match was a Four Corner Survival at Fight of the Century that also featured Nigel McGuinness, Claudio Castagnoli, & Christopher Daniels.

With Lethal as the first person named to be at the event, who do you have on your wish list to compete? Could we possibly see Richards/KENTA III?

Over the coming weeks more talent and matches will be added for ROH’s next iPPV, Best in the World 2011.
