After UFC 129 Loss to Rory MacDonald, Nate Diaz Likely Headed to 155 lbs.

News

After two consecutive losses in the welterweight division, it appears that Nate Diaz is headed back to 155 lbs.

Cesar Gracie, Nate Diaz’s coach was on the “Verbal Submission” Radio show to discuss his fighter’s return to lightweight:

“Nate Diaz didn’t look too good. I’m gonna be the first one to say it. He looked lethargic out there and he’s been asking me to go back to 155 for some time now. Frankie Edgar is the champion over there and he’s the student of a good friend of mine. Nathan was one of the contenders at 155 so we brought him up to 170 but it looks like we’ll probably bring him back down to 155 where he belongs.”

In Diaz’s last fight at 155 lb., he lost a close decision to Gray Maynard at UFC Fight Night 20. Maynard will compete for against Frankie Edgar for the the second time on May 28th at UFC 130: Edgar vs. Maynard III.
