John Maguire vs Jamaine Facey To Collide At Ultimate Challenge 20: Fists of Fire

News

The Troxy, London will see the latest Ultimate Challenge MMA show, with ‘Fists of Fire’ being headlined by John Maguire defending his UCMMA Welterweight Title against Jamaine Facey. The champion is not impressed with the challenger. Maguire said in the official release: ‘He lost to Dean Amasinger and I beat him (Dean) convincingly. I thought UCMMA might have found someone else or found someone internationally for me but Jamaine talked his way in to the fight”.

Unsurprisingly the challenger disagrees. Facey said in the official release: ‘I think he is scared. People that shout and scream and want to stick things on YouTube and bad mouth other people are worried. I know he is worried about me; he doesn’t want to fight me. He said I jumped the queue but that’s rubbish –  if you are a Champion you should want to fight anybody at anytime – you shouldn’t be afraid of anyone. I can see it in his eyes he can curse and talk and say whatever he wants to say, that his business, but at the end of the day if you are a Champion you should want to fight anyone.’

Maguire replied: ‘He’s right I am scared of him. I’m scared I’m going to beat him to death. You should be careful what you wish for. If he thinks I’m scared or bothered about him then he must be on crack.’

John Maguire has dominated the Welterweight division in UCMMA for the past year but Facey believes he has what it takes to defeat him. Facey said: ‘I plan to put the pressure on him. He is the Champion and because of that I give him the up most respect but that’s the only respect I will give him. He is just another person. I don’t care who he is or what he stands for but I know he is going to be in for a very difficult night.’

Maguire concluded: ‘I think he is very unorthodox and that’s what I’m expecting from him.  As soon as he makes a mistake, as soon as he does, I will take advantage. I’m confident I will beat him.’

This fight is one of the most anticipated fights of 2011 and both men will do all they can to leave the Troxy with the Welterweight belt around their waist.
