Rafael dos Anjos in at UFC 132, Meets George Sotiropoulos

News

After word came down earlier this week that Evan Dunham withdrew from his UFC 132 lightweight bout with George Sotiropoulos (14-3) it didn’t take long for the organization to find the Aussie a replacement opponent. Rafael dos Anjos (14-5) will step into that slot in hopes of getting back on the winning track after he was forced to tap due to pain in his UFC 117 fight against Clay Guida. Prior to that he had won three straight fights over Rob Emerson, Kyle Bradley, and Terry Etim. He has also racked up Fight of the Night and Submission of the Night awards throughout his six fight UFC career.

Sotiropoulos, meanwhile, was recently thought of as a top challenger for the lightweight title. But with the crowded picture in that division he was forced to keep taking non-title fights and his seven fight UFC win streak came to a halt at UFC 127 when Dennis Siver out struck him and defeated him via decision.

UFC 132 will be held July 2 from Las Vegas, Nevada and features a main event for the UFC Bantamweight title as Dominick Cruz defends against Urijah Faber. Recently the UFC announced the main card for this event and it did not include dos Anjos vs. Sotiropoulos, the bout could still be televised through either Spike TV or Facebook.com.
