Game of Thrones Episode 1-4 Review: Cripples, Bastards, and Broken Things

Reviews, Shows

In every serialized show there is bound to be a filler episode once in a while, lacking in significant plot development. Now, there are only four episodes of Game of Thrones, so there is only a small distinction between filler and non-filler. But I think it’s safe to say that “Cripples, Bastards, and Broken Things” is filler in the sense that a whole lot of the episode is spent with expositional dialogue.

Without getting into details (huge time constraint this week), several characters talk about their past. This works, for the most part, because the events they describe sound interesting and we can see a direct reflection of past events on the present. Put in proper context, the dialogue adds a lot to the show so we can better understand the world.

Score: 8.9/10
