Thursday Morning Backlash on TNA Sacrifice 2011

Features, Top Story

I’ll be running solo this week as Brad Garoon has a very important interview to prepare for, so let’s all wish him luck!

Today I’ll take a look at the matches scheduled for this Sunday’s “Sacrifice” pay-per-view, as well as a top 10 Sacrifice matches (since I’ve reviewed them all). Enjoy!

TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH – Rob Van Dam vs. Champion “The Icon” Sting

This sucked when they did it last year, and I’m not terribly interested in either guy at this stage in their careers. I expect involvement from Mr. Anderson at some point to further his pursuit of the rematch he feels he deserves. When he gets it, I believe it will be against Sting.
WINNER – Sting (retains title)

X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP – Max Buck vs. Champion Kazarian

This could be good and I like that they’re giving Max Buck a chance to wrestle on his own. However I still think his brother will be involved somehow. Kazarian has been heavily pushed for a while so I don’t see him dropping the title just yet, but this could get good.
WINNER – Kazarian (retains title)

CHALLENGE MATCH – Kurt Angle and ??? vs. The Jarretts

Since this is posting a good 11 hours before iMPACT! airs I won’t spoil who Angle’s mystery partner is. This feud has been going on forever and one must expect it to end at some point. The crowd will probably be hot but the involvement of the women will surely drag it down and who knows where it will go from here.
WINNERS – Kurt Angle and ???

TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP – Matt Hardy and ??? vs. Beer Money

Again, I won’t give away who is joining Hardy, but I will say the match has the potential to be pretty decent. Beer Money have been the champions many times and for several months now, and I think they want to put some gold back on Immortal so I’m calling for new champs here.
WINNERS – Matt Hardy and ???

TNA KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP – Madison Rayne vs. Mickie James

This feud has been going on forever, so hopefully Mickie can just get a win already and Madison can move on to feuding with Tara.
WINNER – Mickie James (retains title)

TAG TEAM MATCH – Mexican America vs. Ink Inc.

Is this really the best they can do for the tag team division? Yikes.
WINNERS – Mexican America

Abyss vs. Crimson

I haven’t seen much of Crimson and know nothing about him, so I’m not sure how this match will go. Abyss hasn’t been interesting in a while though, so my hopes are not high.
WINNER – Crimson

And now, let’s take a look back at my top 10 matches in SACRIFICE history:

1. AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe, 2005
2. Chris Harris vs. James Storm, 2007
3. America’s Most Wanted vs. AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels, 2006
4. Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles, 2007
5. Jeff Jarrett & Rhino vs. Raven & Sabu, 2005
6. Sting & Samoa Joe vs. Jeff Jarrett & Scott Steiner, 2006
7. Sean Waltman vs. Jerry Lynn, 2005
8. Christian Cage vs. Abyss, 2006
9. Rob Van Dam vs. AJ Styles, 2010
10. Chris Sabin vs. Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt, 2007

See you next week!
