Rasslin’ Roundtable — TNA Sacrifice

Features, Roundtables, Top Story

Sting (c) vs. Rob Van Dam for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship

M.C. Brown: Building towards Sting vs. Hogan. Sting will have a long run here. Sting vs. Mr. Anderson one on one will be more of a fresh match up than RVD vs. Mr. Anderson again for Slammiversary. Sting retains.
Winner: Sting.

Chris Biscuiti: What are the chances this one on one match doesn’t end with outside interference from Mr. Anderson costing RVD the win? After all, Sting and Anderson need a payoff after all these weeks, right?
Winner: Sting

Rhett Davis: So basically Sting just rotates in RVD and Mr. Anderson until one of them beats him? I admit I haven’t been watching every week to it’s full extent, but this is boring. I despise Mr. Anderson now that he has developed his A**hole gimmick. It’s dumb. He sounds like a PG-13 Michael Cole. He barely wrestles better than him. Wait I’m getting off track… Sting will beat RVD so he can go on to challenge Mr. Andersnore… Andersnore at… umm… what’s the next PPV called again?
Winner (and STILL TNA Heavyweight Champion): The Police’s Lead Singer

Steven Gepp: Let’s see if a Sting match goes longer than 10 minutes this time, shall we? I have surprisingly high hopes for this one to not suck.
When we set the way back machine for: 1998 WCW
Winner: Sting

Kazarian (c) vs. Max Buck for the TNA X Division Championship

M.C. Brown: Not much build up here except repeated acknowledgement of the X-Division being overlooked. This match has zero build up and Max hasn’t even been portrayed as a heel since last PPV. It would be nice to involve Kazarian in a bigger feud, like having Daniels secretly take him out in order to replace another Fortune member. That type of storyline, even if it had Max Buck win by default would help Kazarian and the X-Division as a whole. So originally, my pick was Kazarian, just so he can continue to stand in Fortune wearing gold, but I’m changing my pick to Max Buck in the hopes TNA will do something with the X-Title.
Winner(and new Champion): Max Buck

Chris Biscuiti: What are the chances this one on one match doesn’t end with outside interference from the entire X Division? I do think Max Buck wins though, since Kaz doesn’t need the belt anymore now that he and Fortune are rolling along quite nicely.
Winner: Max Buck

Rhett Davis: Weird how you have a go home show and this match isn’t even hyped really. In fact, I didn’t know it was happening until the little slide show where they show off their pathetic card. Hence, no hype probably means no change.
Winner (and STILL X Division Champion): Kaz

Steven Gepp: Not sure what I think of this. Kazarian is talented, but I am just not sold on either Buck away from the other. It’s like when WCW had pissed off half the luchdores, and so were forced to fill the ranks of the cruiserweight division with the likes of Kwee-Wee and Prince Iaukea, before Elix Skipper and the Cruiserweight tag teams saved them once more.
When we set the way back machine for: 1999 WCW
Winner: Kazarian

Abyss vs. Crimson

M.C. Brown: Building towards Crimson vs. Samoa Joe. It’ll be Joe that ends the streak as a receipt for Kurt ending his. So Crimson has to win here and pin Abyss before the Joe vs. Crimson match can happen at Slammiversary.
Winner: Crimson.

Chris Biscuiti: What are the chances this one on one match doesn’t end without outside interference from……….I’m sure you get my point by now, even you, Fuj!
Winner: Crimson

Rhett Davis: Oh yay the toothless wannabee-Kane versus the wannabee-Goldberg! Anyone predicting Crimson to hold Abyss up for a minute during a JackHammer? Yeah me either. Crimson has his little undefeated streak going on so I don’t see him losing to Abyss. I see Joe interfering or watching while Crimson comes up with the win anyways, setting up Joe vs Crimson for the next show. That feud I might care about. Joe had an undefeated streak and now he is trying to end Crimson’s for attempting to ‘copy’ him.
Winner: Sangriento’s Brother

Steven Gepp: I do not rank Abyss highly, and I have not seen enough of Crimson to know what to think, but initial impressions are mediocre. And I have a feeling – call me crazy – that this won’t be a technical masterpiece.
When we set the way back machine for: 1964 AustralianWCW
Winner: Crimson?

Beer Money, Inc. (c) vs. Matt Hardy and Chris Harris for the TNA World Tag Team Championship

M.C. Brown: The Harris name is supposed to add drama, but TNA failed to make much of it outside of a stare between James and Chris. Hardy cost both Beer Money their shot in the battle royal. A receipt is “a comin'” at the PPV. BM retains.
Winner: Beer Money.

Chris Biscuiti: Beer Money should not lose the tag belts to Matt Hardy and Chris Harris. If anything, Harris should turn on Matt and side with Fortune, then play up the whole TNA Original mantra.
Winners: Beer Money

Rhett Davis: I actually liked how this played out. This was the reason I went back and watched Impact this week. I thought the set-up was great as it totally portrayed Jeffrey as Matt’s secret partner and lo and behold it’s Chris ‘Wildcat’ Harris. You know the guy who couldn’t cut it in WWECW because he sucked? Yeah that guy! Well he teamed with with James Storm as America’s Most Wanted way back before WWECW. Then they split, had a mediocre partner v partner feud and then he quit/got fired. Don’t remember, but that’s not important. Now he’s back and big as ever… quite literally. Harris is now with Matt Hardy and I actually sort of expect him to turn on Matt and help Beer Money win. Then they will start the whole fighting for James’ hand in marriage… or partnership between Roode and Harris.
Winners (and still TNA Tag Team Champions): Roode Storms

Steven Gepp: Beer Money are my favourite tag team of the 21st century. Seriously. So that’s why I can see TNA breaking them up. Here’s what’s going to go down – Harris and Storm will destroy their own partners and reform AMW. Just like every other time a good tag team was split up just to make for a storyline.
When we set the way back machine for: Any time since 1985 in every promotion on Earth
Winner: No result

Mickie James (c) vs. Madison Rayne for the TNA Women’s Knockout Championship
If Mickie wins, Tara’s contract with Madison gets nullified and Tara is free to work in TNA.

M.C. Brown: As in my column, the storyline potential of life is hell for Tara and Mickie’s shoulder injury = Madison winning.
Winner(and new champion): Madison Rayne

Chris Biscuiti: When Mickie wins, the (HARDCORE) country wins.
Winner: Mickie James

Rhett Davis: I’m. Tired. Of. Madison. Rayne. I’ll be glad when Mickie wins this so Rayne can feud someone besides James and then James can feud with the Drugged Up Zombie girl Angelina. Woot woot!
Winner (and STILL TNA Knockout Champion): Mickie James

Steven Gepp: This could be good if it’s longer than last month. The extra stip involving Tara just screams of interference. Though I think it could make this one confusing go-round.
When we set the way back machine for: 1987 POWW (PWOW)
Winner: Mickie James

Jeff Jarrett and Karen Jarrett vs Kurt Angle and Chyna

M.C. Brown: Not a huge Chyna fan and I should choose the Jarretts since every time I pick Kurt he loses, but I figure one of these years, Kurt will win in this feud. BUT I figure more drama can be added when Jeff pins or gives the stroke to Chyna and puts Karen on top of her for the win. Old time receipt for Jeff after he lost the I-C belt to Chyna in WWF/E many moons ago. This feud is not ending nor do I see an end in sight.
Winner: The Jarretts

Chris Biscuiti: You know, I’d actually pay to see this match. Actually, sans Karen I think I already did pay for it way back in 1999, you know, when Blink 182 still had fans.
Winners: Angle and Chyna win the match, but Triple H already won the war

Rhett Davis: Well weren’t we surprised to see Chyna show up? Well not really as everyone knew the news through one median or another *ahem Hargrove*, but Chyna actually throws a little suspense in the situation. Hopefully she just.. oh I don’t know… retires both JJ and KJ? That’d be great. Actually that’s not how I see this going down as this is TNA and they love screwing stuff up. Especially with this angle. Therefore… Chyna is attacked during the match by Angelina as a personal favor from Winter to Immortal. Karen Jarrett covers her for the pin totally depleting Chyna of all momentum and killing the storyline even more dead than it already is. Then the storyline continues…
Winners: The King and Queen of the Mountain

Steven Gepp: As if this angle could not get any more stupid and insulting to fans and uncomfortable to people who think about these things, now they’ve thrown goddammed Chyna into the mix?! Why? Because Jarrett never got that final victory over her or something? Because their feud was one that fans were just clamouring to see continue 12 years later? And how did she get to keep the name? A stupid story just got stupider, and now they want the new Queen of the Knockouts to wrestle? Make it stop! Please, make it stop!
When we set the way back machine for: 1999 WWF
Winner: the Jarretts (because dicking with Kurt Angle seems to be the newest pastime in TNA)

Mexican America vs. Ink Inc.

M.C. Brown: By default heels need to win here and more of an investment has been made in MA specifically Hernandez. I just wish Homicide and LAX were the opponents of Ink, Inc. Bring back Homicide and Jay Lethal, TNA.
Winner: Mexican America

Chris Biscuiti: I honestly love Sarita and Rosita, but HATE Hernandez and the other guy. Ink Inc. won’t win this, though, and as punishment Shannon Moore has to watch a DVD of his own matches.
Winners: Mexican America

Rhett Davis: Hey another match no one cares about nor probably even remembers is on the card! So my description will be as short as the build-up has been. They w-
Winners: Mexicano Americano

Steven Gepp: What happened to the Ink Inc break up, one going good, one turning to the dark side? Because surely they must both be good if they are fighting MexAm… unless MexAm are the good guys… Shades of grey! Dear God! No! It’s just like the Gang Wars all over again…
When we set the way back machine for: 1997 WWF
Winner: Mexican America

AJ Styles vs. Tommy Dreamer

M.C. Brown: With Tommy costing AJ a title match by eliminating him in the battle royal Thursday, I think this is just a filler between a bigger match between AJ & Bully Ray. To make that match mean something, AJ has to win, even if Bully interferes. Originally due to a lot of faces winning, I picked Tommy, but I’m changing it to AJ. I wouldn’t be surprised, tho, if Bully does something to cost him the match and further their feud with a match leading towards Slammiversary.
Winner: AJ Styles.

Chris Biscuiti: The good news is that AJ Styles makes the Sacrifice card in a one on one match. The bad news is his opponent is Tommy Dreamer. While I like the possible character progression Dreamer is currently attempting to procure, I’d rather see Styles in a WRESTLING match instead of whatever spot-fest they cook up here. Styles will lose, nonsensically, due to, you guessed it, outside interference.

Winner: Tommy Dreamer

Rhett Davis: With the addition of this match… This could possibly be the swerve match since Impact Wrestling always has one on PPV. Bully Ray will probably help Tommy win.
Winner: Tommy Dreamer

Steven Gepp: Why? I mean, I don’t watch Impact that closely, but this makes little sense, and unless I miss my guess it’s the second face-face fight on the card. I do not understand.
When we set the way back machine for: 2000 ECW
Winner: AJ (please)

Brian Kendrick vs. Robbie E.

M.C. Brown: Throw in match. For the life of me, I don’t know why Robbie would win or why he has a spot when Jay Lethal doesn’t, but maybe I’m off and Max Buck will win and face Kendrick for the X-Title. So I’ll pick Kendrick here.
Winner: Brian Kendrick

Chris Biscuiti: Fistpump! That was for you FDSwayze.

Winner: Robbie E

Rhett Davis: Man these matches are coming out of the woodwork… I’m just going to pick a guy…
Winner: Robbie E
