MATCH #8: WWE Championship I Quit Match – John Cena vs. The Miz

Before the match begins officially, Miz makes it a handicap match with Riley on his side, since there are no disqualifications and all. They go back and forth a bit in the opening minutes, with Cena holding his own. Riley then uses the briefcase to beat Cena down. Now Miz and Riley are fully in control, taking Cena outside and prepping the announce table. They hit him with the monitors but Cena will not quit. Miz hits a DDT on the steel steps. Riley picks up the steps and Miz advises Cena to quit, but of course he won’t. Miz grabs a kendo stick and Riley holds Cena’s arms up, leaving him wide open to the attack. Cena says Miz hits like a girl, so Miz cracks the stick across his chest. Cena is getting tortured with the stick. That looks incredibly painful. They take Cena up the entrance ramp and Miz hits a suplex on the steel. The abuse continues and Miz grabs a leather belt and whips him with it repeatedly. Cena still insults the Miz despite the intense pain he must be in. Cena fights up a couple of times as they make their way back to the ring. Miz hits a nasty Skull Crushing Finale on a steel chair. Cena is in rough shape as Miz tries to get the little kids in the front row to tell Cena to quit. Of course the kids are steadfastly behind their hero and won’t tell him to give in. Cena still refuses to Quit, so Miz cracks him in the skull with a steel chair. Then they steal the Royal Rumble ’99 finish as a recording of Cena says “I Quit.” Miz apparently wins the title around 24 minutes in.

WINNER – The Miz

However, the referee figures out their ruse and he waves it off. He restarts the match. Miz holds Cena for Riley to hit him with the belt, but Cena ducks and Miz takes the belt shot instead. Cena Adjusts Riley’s Attitude right through the announce table. He takes his belt off and whips Miz unmerciful up the ramp. Cena locks on the STF and Miz says “I Quit.”

WINNER (for real) – John Cena, ***
