The Dark Knight Rises Adds Matthew Modine, Tom Conti And Joey King To Cast

Casting News, News, Projects

Variety is reporting that three new names have been added to Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated follow-up to his Batman Begins sequel. And in a move that is rather cheeky, one of the actors is Matthew Modine, who some may remember played Private Joker in Full Metal Jacket. So The Dark Knight Rises will have a Joker after all.

Actually, the character Modine will be playing is named “Nixon.”

In the mean time, Modine will next be appearing in Curtis Hanson’s (L.A. Confidential) HBO telepic Too Big To Fail, where he’ll be portraying former Merrill Lynch CEO John Thain.

Joey King, who last year played the titular role of Ramona in Ramona and Beezus, will next be seen in the Warner Brothers comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love.

And then there’s Tom Conti. His name may not ring a bell right away, but for those who remember his Oscar-nominated turn in 1983’s Reuben, Reuben are no doubt ecstatic that he’ll be appearing in The Dark Knight Rises.

Now then, where would an 11-year-old girl fit into the story? Could it be a flashback sequence involving Selina Kyle? Or maybe she’ll be Police Commissioner Gordon’s daughter.

Don’t let me restrain your ideas. Feel free to jump to your own conclusions in our comments section.

The Dark Knight Rises will open in theaters on July 20, 2012.
