Chad Mendes Won’t Wait For Jose Aldo, Takes Rani Yahya at UFC 133

News

Unwilling to wait for UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo, Chad Mendes will meet Rani Yahya at UFC 133 in Philadelphia on August 6th.

Mendes was rumored to meet Aldo for the title at the same event, but the title holder is instead targeting a September return after resting to rehab several injuries. Unlike UFC’s earlier Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Rashad Evans title situation, instead of waiting for the title shot, Mendes elected to take a fight in the interim.

Ironically, UFC 133 is headlined by a fight between former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Evans taking on up-and-comer “Mr. Wonderful” Phil Davis.
