Must Watch: Leaked Red-Band Trailer For The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Media, Trailers

There’s no telling how long this video will be on the web, so enjoy it while you can. A few days ago there were rumblings that the first trailer for David Fincher’s adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was making the rounds over in the Europe. Well, it seems that someone has taken liberty at taping the trailer and posting it on YouTube. And the choice of music used to promote it – a kick-ass cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” from Trent Reznor and Karen O.

Fincher’s Dragon Tattoo is already at a disadvantage because people will be wanting to compare Rooney Mara’s transformation to the performance of Noomi Rapace in the original Swedish releases (one which I proclaimed to be the single best performance of 2010). We get some brief glimpses of Rooney Mara and she looks like she could have a walk-on role in Sons of Anarchy. With a grim tone and dour subject matter, this is unquestionably the anti-Christmas movie of the year. Which is it why it has been tagged as “The Feel Bad Movie of Christmas.”

Plot Summary: A discredited journalist, Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig), and mysterious computer hacker, Lisbeth Salander (Mara), discover that even the wealthiest families have skeletons in their closets while working to solve the mystery of a 40-year-old murder. Together they are briefed in the disappearance of Harriet Vanger, whose uncle suspects she may have been killed by a member of their own family. The deeper they dig for the truth, however, the greater the risk of being buried alive by members of the family, who will go to great lengths to keep their secrets tightly sealed.

In addition to Mara and Craig, the film also stars Robin Wright, Christopher Plummer, Joely Richardson, Stellan Skarsgård, and Goran Visnjic. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo opens on December 21st.
