Talk about genre switch. Craig Brewer, who previously gave us Black Snake Moan and Hustle & Flow, is now locked into a deal to write and direct a new big-screen treatment of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan.
According to Deadline, Brewer will tell the story of Tarzan over the course of three films. And since Hollywood loves trilogies, how could Warner Bros. resist?
While the transition from Hustle & Flow to Tarzan seems like an unusual career path, this is a passion project for Brewer, who now finds himself a hot commodity after directing an update of Footloose (slated for release October 14, 2011).
