Nick Diaz Vacates Strikeforce Welterweight Title

Nick Diaz has vacated the Strikeforce Welterweight Title in favor of challenging for Georges St. Pierre’s UFC Welterweight Title at UFC 137.

Announced by Dana White, Nick Diaz is now a “UFC fighter” and has vacated his Strikeforce title due to the transfer. Nick Diaz won the Strikeforce Welterweight Title on January 3rd 2010 and has successfully defended it (3 times) against the likes of KJ Noons and former UFC fighter Paul Daley. His bout against Georges St. Pierre at UFC 137 will be his first venture back into the octagon since November 2006.

As for the future of the title itself, White stated that two unnamed Strikeforce fighters will battle for the belt at a future date.
