The Weekly Wishlist: WWE WrestleMania 27

News

Listen, we here at Pulse Figures try our best to cover all forms of action figures. Sure. We have some glaring holes in our coverage (Star Wars, Transformers, etc.), but, to be honest, wrestling figure coverage is what got us here. It is with that in mind that we bring you week 3 of The Weekly Wishlist.

In the past, it has become a yearly tradition that Toys ‘R’ Us would receive an exclusive assortment of WWE figures, based on that years WrestleMania. We are now just over 2 months removed from WrestleMania, and still no indication that Mattel will continue this trend, so we took it upon ourselves to share what WE want to see!

Last year Mattel released WM figures across 3 of its assortments, 6 Basic figures, 3 Basic 2-Packs & 4 Elite figures. The reason why Mattel & Toys ‘R’ Us might be hesitant on putting out a WrestleMania 27 assortment, is that you can still find many Shelton Benjamin, Drew McIntyre, & Chris Jericho figures from the basic assortment.

So, when looking at our Wishlist, we decided to take the same amount of figures released last year, but add 2 Defining Moments figures as well. Without further ado, here is the Weekly Wishlist.

Basic
-Trish Stratus
-Edge
-John Cena
-Alberto Del Rio
-John Morrison
-Randy Orton

Basic 2-Packs
-Big Show & Kane
-Michael Cole & Jack Swagger
-Wade Barrett & Ezekiel Jackson

Elite
-The Undertaker
-Cody Rhodes
-Jerry Lawler
-The Rock

Defining Moments
-The Miz
-Triple H

Let’s break this down. The Basic & Basic 2-Pack assortments will be made up for all repaints, with 2 exceptions. The first is Trish Stratus, which will only need a new head to go on the basic female body. Michael Cole is a definitely a question mark in this one, the way he looked at WM would certainly require a new mold over all, but I would say it’s 100% worth it. If Mattel wanted to cheap out, they can put him in a suit. The rest of the Basic single assortment would include easy repaints of Cena, Orton, Edge & Morrison. Del Rio is planned for Basic 12, so his inclusion would be a great addition to that figure.

Basic 2-Packs are centered around the Corre match. This would be a great way at getting out a new version of a very badly done Ezekiel Jackson. Barrett is being over-done, in my opinion, with PPV 8, Basic 10 & Basic 12 all being released within a sort time, so replacing him with a bearded Justin Gabriel would be my back-up plan to that.

Elite is an interesting blend. First off would be Undertaker in his entrance attire, which is cheap enough to use the same Elite style figure, and a modified jacket. We can have The Rock with the separate Team Bring it shirt (please no suit). Jerry Lawler would get his first Mattel figure with his crown & entrance jacket. And finally Cody Rhodes would have his first un-dashing figure with his jacket, and, hopefully, a removable facemask.

The Defining Moments line has been a slow seller, due to the price tag for sure, but doesn’t this perfectly for Triple H’s entrance attire? The Miz however, I can see how someone would question this, as it’s pretty much the same as the Elite 9 figure. Imagine this…an inflatable AWESOME from his entrance! And now you want this Defining Moments figure.

Let’s talk some snubs. Like I said in the 2-packs, I would like to see a bearded Gabriel, so a Gabriel/Slater 2-pack would have worked. Also, no CM Punk, which I would finally love to see a new figure with his chest tattoo & short hair, but that’s coming anyway. Sheamus in his American outfit would have been awesome, but his match with Daniel Bryan didn’t even appear on the main show. Mattel seems to love making Kofi Kingston figures, and I did love that outfit, but he was a last-minute addition to the show, even if his outfit was awesome.

The big elephant in the room is Rey Mysterio’s Captain America outfit, and while I would love that outfit; A) He lost the match & B) Mattel has gone on record saying that they will only make Mysterio’s superhero outfits that are based on DC characters, since they can cross the brands. Obviously, Snooki is a want, since this would be the one and only shot of getting a WWE figure of her, but there is no way her contract would have allowed it.

I like Comics, Wrestling, Super Mario Bros & Dead Space. Oh ya, and Scott Pilgrim.
