Jim Ross Hints At Huge WWE DVD Project

Disc Announcements, News

Sometimes it pays to read, not just scan, Jim Ross’s blog posts. If not, you could miss some very important tidbits. In a recent posting the great broadcast announcer mentioned something that would make The Rock raise an eyebrow. Here’s what he wrote:

“I’m planning on being a part of the biggest DVD project that I’ve ever been assigned next week. This project has been years in the making and could be ground breaking. If it comes off we envision, it will be a huge coup for WWE and will be ‘must see.’ That’s all I’m going to say on this matter but I am legit pumped to be a part of this project.”

Key phrases: “Biggest DVD Project,” “Years in the Making,” “Must See.”

If Jim Ross is going to Stamford to record voice overs for the upcoming release and/or do on-camera sound bites, you have to figure that this won’t be something that will arrive in 2011.

If 2012 is the target release, the only thing I think it could be is a massive retrospective on the History of World Wrestling Entertainment. I base my assumption with 2012 being the 30th anniversary of when Vince McMahon purchased Capitol Wrestling Corporation Ltd. from his father. Plus in that same blog post, right before talking about his work on the DVD project he mentions, “www.wweclassics.com has some major things planned and they are eminent. WWEClassics.com is great for us old school fans and certainly worth you sampling it.”

That’s my two cents, anyway. What do you think the DVD project will be? Let us know in the comments section.
