Shane McMahon Cheers On Rory McIlroy At U.S. Open

News

Having not taken the time to watch a single hole of this year’s U.S. Open, I tuned in just in time to see Rory McIlroy on the 18th hole getting ready to tee off. From what I gleaned from the announcers and last night’s news coverage, McIlory’s performance thus far was legendary. A minus sixteen with one hole to go, I would say so. But as I watched him tee off, the camera broke away to show his father and someone who looked like Shane McMahon.

Wait a sec, it was Shane McMahon!

And I wasn’t the only one bewildered. Even Jonathan “Coach” Coachman tweeted that he didn’t know why he was in attendance.

To my astonishment, I quickly learned that Shane-O-Mac is on the Board of Directions of International Sports Management, a company based out of England that represents a number of golf clients including Ernie Els, Lee Westwood, and Rory McIlory. The sports management company was founded in 1989 by former European Tour golfer Andrew “Chubby” Chandler.

While it’s good to see Shane McMahon is making a name for himself outside the world of Word Wrestling Entertainment, a part of me was wishing he was recruiting for a new Mean Street Posse faction.
