Bad news for New York fans hoping to see the UFC and other MMA organizations make their long-awaited return to the Big Apple anytime soon as once again the bill to legalize the sport died a death in the labyrinth legislative process in the state legislature. Having passed the upper house and the lower house’s tourism committee, it failed to be moved to a vote in the Ways and Means Committee so preventing it from receiving a vote on the floor of the lower house before the end of this legislative session yesterday. This means that the bill falls and the efforts to legalize the sport in the largest North American state or province to not sanction the sport will have to start over next year.
