Former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor has announced his intention to return to the squared circle, almost two years since he retired after being violent knocked out by Arthur Abraham in the opening match of the Super Six. Taylor is looking to fight on August 13th and at the weight of 160Ibs at which he made himself famous – with Taylor’s camp claiming that his efforts to bulk up to compete at Super Middleweight were proving counterproductive. The fight is likely to be broadcast on Showtime, as the Super Six broadcaster still has a contract with Taylor from the tournament.
While many will be concerned at the prospect of a faded fighter suffering more punishment, his trainer Pat Burns assured ESPN that the fighter who suffered a severe concussion after the Abraham fight has successfully passed an array of neurological examinations.
