Variety is reporting that Edward Norton will be stepping into the role that other high profile actors have taken on over the years: trying to kill Jason Bourne. Or whomever Jeremy Renner is playing in the sequel that’s not really a sequel in The Bourne Legacy.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Jason Bourne will not be featured in the film, while Renner will play another assassin trained in the same program that Bourne was trained in. Universal had no comment on Norton’s negotiations.
What does this mean? It’s been a while since Norton has played a villain in any meaningful capacity in an action film, playing bad characters but never the “bad guy” since The Italian Job it seems. There must be something good in the script to bring an actor like Norton into the fold, especially in this kind of role.
What do you think? Is Edward Norton the right type to play a Bourne villain? Let us know below.
