The Rock Confirmed For This Year’s Survivor Series

News

I don’t know what’s more impressive – that The Rock is going to be at Survivor Series or that WWE hasn’t decided to drop/change the name of the event.

When World Wrestling Entertainment rolls into New York City for this year’s Survivor Series it will celebrate two milestones. The first milestone is that it will be the 25th Survivor Series event. The second milestone is that the event marks the 15th anniversary from when The Rock made his PPV debut which, coincidentally, was also at Madison Square Garden.

Last week, The Rock laid the foundation of his appearance when he tweeted:

“November 20th, MSG in NTC, The Rock brings it back to where it all began in 1996…Survivor Series! 15 years of smackdown.”

Ending any speculation, WrestleZone has learned exclusively that Dwayne Johnson is indeed confirmed for the event.

Also, World Wrestling Entertainment is planning a huge media blitz in preparation for The Rock’s appearance at Survivor Series 2011.

“With SummerSlam taking place in Los Angeles, WWE is going to go all out to promote Rock at MSG,” a key WWE insider told us this evening.

“(WWE Chairman) Vince (McMahon) really wants to exploit The Rock’s mainstream credibility to the max with this major pay-per-view appearance, which will officially kick off the direct push into Rock vs Cena at WrestleMania 28.”

What that promotion will entail is still a mystery at this point. Though it wouldn’t surprise me if they make a commercial or small vignette that airs during the SummerSlam 2011 pay-per-view telecast to fuel The Rock’s appearance at Survivor Series this November.

And just for laughs, here’s the before and after comparison of The Rock.

He's told that the position is his until he's dead or if "The Boss" can find somebody better. I expect the best and I give the best. Here's the beer. Here's the entertainment. Now have fun. That's an order!
