The Korner of Reality – CM Punk, Triple H Done?, Same Old, Same Old

Columns, Top Story

Welcome to your Weekly Wrestling Wednesday Stop for all things WWE! I am your host Rhett Davis and I apologize for my absence last week, but I’m back! And I brought a friend, Jonah Kue!

Good day, good sir. Thank you for the invite.

No problem Jonah it’s good to have you! Finally the Kue/Davis team is intact.

Ah, the ultimate tag team of Pulse. Gojira must be shaking in his boots right now.

And Glazer is hiding between his legs for sure. But for our first topic today we can look no further than CM Punk. What are your thoughts on the Cena/Punk feud and its newest development?

I feel like they’ve done an excellent job so far. I find it funny that so many are antsy that ‘E pulled the trigger too early. These are the same people that complained that the trigger wasn’t pulled soon enough with Nexus. Cena/Punk is building perfectly. Couldn’t ask for anything better
Well, we could, but that’s because we’re the IWC.

I was definitely intrigued by Punk showing up Monday, but it was a nice surprise as no one really wanted to see Punk disappear for months did they? Punk has had the most compelling promos of the last year and people are mad because he came back too soon? I thought it was a phenomenal move as it caught everyone off guard and gives us Punk back.

Exactly. As I said in my Korner this week (cheap plug, a la Foley), I see Punk/Cena as a gateway to a reinvigorated WWE. They’ve finally come to terms with the shitty product they’ve been giving us this past year. Safe to say, ‘Mania 27 was a wake-up call.

‘Mania 27… just terrible. Thank God there was a show called Money In The Bank to outshow that. As for the gateway, it couldn’t have been more sweet to me.

I so share in that sentiment. I know we’re all hyped on Punk/Cena, since it’s the first really awesome thing we’ve seen in awhile, but instead of wanting it to last forever, I think ‘E is saying this is just the beginning. That’s the optimist in me speaking, anyway. Hell, they might just blow it, as history has shown them prone to doing. But I’m seeing this as a real change.

I really think they’ve taken a note from ROH. I mean we have Punk as the champion, Christian as champ, Daniel Bryan won the MITB briefcase. It’s so surreal for WWE. Speaking of Daniel Bryan, what do you think about him announcing to cash it in at WrestleMania 28?

I think it’s a win/win. If they let him follow through with it, awesome. If he cashes it in earlier, I can see the start of a heel run. In either case, he’s definitely getting pushed. Did you notice the Twitter and Facebook pages? Not to mention the Youtube series. D-Bryan as the new Zack Ryder? Could you see that, Radman?

I could indeed! The Internet boomed when Daniel Bryan won! He trended on Twitter throughout the night.

Damn near shut the site down. If Bryan does cash in at ‘Mania, I think he’ll be the first to lose his match.

The fact that he won the briefcase is just a testament to WWE finally pushing the American Dragon.
I’d hate for that to happen, but that was the exact thought I had when he won…
I thought he would be the first to lose it.

But Mania is all about the feel good moments! So there is hope!

Great minds think alike. But hey, it’ll be a helluva match.

Agreed. Unless Mark Henry is World Champion it will be a fantastic main event match for the show.

The only thing that could kill a Daniel Bryan match. Somebody’s gonna get their ass kicked. The wallets of people who pay for a Mark Henry match.

Although I feel the sudden swelling of my bladder when he walks out, I have to say that his new character is still compelling to me.

True. He’s definitely much more intriguing than he used to be.

Not that that does anything for his abilities inside the ring, but yes he definitely is a nice by-product of the trade. About the only one. A few moments ago we spoke of Zack Ryder. What did you think about his pop on Monday night?
Apparently there has been a big discussion on whether or not he received a pop.

Zack Ryder is being tested by the company right now. Obviously, he has a following (you and I being part of it). I think he’s definitely getting pops whenever he shows up. It’s only a matter of time until he actually gets the one thing he needs to establish him on Raw: a good feud.

It seems that the WWE is testing their feet in a lot of different pools and Ryder is just another one of those. First all the ‘faith’ in Punk, DB winning, Ryder being on Raw (entrance and all), and a few other aspects. But a feud would do wonders for Ryder. I thought we were going to get a tag team feud a few weeks ago when he came out to say Woo Woo Woo to the Tag Champs… but nothing came of it.

Tag teams in ‘E are a lost cause. Sadly, it’s just something we’ve got to accept. Hell, at this point, TNA isn’t fairing much better. At this point, ROH is the only saving grace for tag teams.

Tag Teams are definitely hard to find, but a Tag feud would be better than absolutely nothing for Ryder. But yes the tag division is rather small at this point, but it’s nothing new for WWE. It has been that way for years now.

Eh. At this point, it’s like complaining about corruption in government. It’s just gotten redundant. I’m happy with the direction ‘E is seemingly going. I have “faith” that they’ll continue to go in said direction. Get it? Faith? Wakka wakka.

It’s not a Kue party without a little Wakka Wakka, but how do you like our brand new totally transformed WWE?
Sanders spoke on it in his Rager this week, but he makes a good point about how no matter how much things change they stay the same.

Well, Sanders is right. The company will always run in a pattern. No matter how high definition a television is, it’s still producing the same thing the old televisions produced: pictures with sound. I don’t see this as a bad thing, though. Yes, we’re in a new era. Yes, it’s a gradual move. Punk/Cena has been a revolutionary feud, but not everything is going to change that drastically and that quickly. But they are changing for the better, as of now, anyway.

That’s an interesting look on it… but I don’t think this past Monday Night was all that bad. Even without the Punk incident, it wasn’t that bad of a night. Not a revolutionary one as you said, but a decent enough Raw. Now our next topic is VKM and HHH. Has Vince really stepped down and is HHH really in charge or is this entire thing a facade?

Well, I don’t think one man is ever really in charge after Trips came into the scene. It’s definitely a Parliament rather than a dictatorship. Trips, Steph, and Vince are the top of the food chain. And yes, I think Vince is still moderating the process, like an executive producer. I just don’t think he’s coming up with the ideas anymore. And thank goodness for that. Not that Vince didn’t have good ideas, but his time has definitely come to pass.

The proverbial torch has been passed, but yes the Parliament idea is definitely more accurate than just the dictatorship which we’ve had for years under Vince. And now for our last topic… do you think Triple H will remain as the CEO or will he eventually step back in the ring?

He’ll be back, but I doubt he’ll be back full time. I see him in one or two more matches before the retirement angle kicks in. Probably something with ‘Taker. Honestly, there is no benefit to Trips being back in the ring full time, for him or for his potential opponents Except ‘Taker, of course. But Trips will always be an on screen part of this business. He’s just made for it.

He would make an excellent manager and it would give someone a big push to retire The Cerebral Assassin. But it’s good to see Trips back even if he’s not wrestling.
And that’s about it for this week! Thank you for joining me Mr. Jonah Kue and make sure to check out Kue’s Korner every Tuesday.

Thank you for having me, Mr. Davis. After this, Pulse will never be the same.

It shall be shook to its core.
And quite frankly my dear… that’s a wrap!
