Alistair Overeem To Fight on October’s United Glory Card

News

After Strikeforce Heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem bowed out of his Heavyweight Grand Prix semifinal bout with Antonio Silva, it appears that Overeem found the October 2011 fight that he was looking for.

Overeem, whose contract with Strikeforce is not exclusive, is now expected to compete at a United Glory event in Russia this October.

“Since he is out of the [Strikeforce] tourney, we need to keep him busy, and I am honored to have him fighting at my show,” De Jong wrote to MMAjunkie.com on Wednesday evening.

The rumor is that Overeem is angling for a new Strikeforce/Zuffa deal and his pulling out of the card is a political move to get said contract.
