Thursday Afternoon Backlash on TNA Hardcore Justice 2011 (Kurt Angle, Sting)

Features, Top Story

Well even after last year’s debacle involving former ECW talent, TNA has decided to stick with the name Hardcore Justice, rather than the simpler, less porn-title sounding Hard Justice. Let’s take a look at the card.

World Heavyweight Championship Match – Kurt Angle vs. Sting

I really am not into either of these guys and have seen them wrestle so many times in the past that this match holds no interest for me. This “Joker” thing that they’re doing with Sting is so awkward and unbelievable. Sting is not a very good actor – I sat through “The Encounter,” so I know. I somehow see Sting escaping with the title, maybe with some help from Immortal or something.

Tag Team Championship – Mexican America vs. Beer Money

Mexican America really isn’t working because it’s coming off as LAX-lite, and without Konnan cutting the promos it’s just not the same. Beer Money is a great team but they’ve been treading water as champions since January and they need something interesting to do, and quickly.

X Division Championship – Austin Aries vs. Brian Kendrick vs. Alex Shelley

The renewed focus on the X-Division gives us matches like this, and I’m all for it. Aries isn’t my favorite but if he helps the X-division get back to its former glory it’s nothing but positives for the promotion. Everyone has been saying for years that this is the most unique thing about TNA and could be a selling point. They’re making an effort now, but it’s still coming off like a glorified cruiserweight division.

Six Man Tag Team Match – Fortune vs. Immortal

This feud is STILL going on? The teams consist of Chris Daniels, AJ Styles, and Kazarian against Gunner, Abyss, and Scott Steiner. I honestly have no idea if this feud will ever end or where it’s even headed. This should be a fun match at least.

Knockouts Title Match – Winter w/ Angelina Love vs. Mickie James

These two had a decent match a couple of years ago in WWE, so this could be alright. Much like the X-Division, the Knockouts Division used to be a bit of a calling card for TNA, but it’s been floundering for months. They never should have let Kong go.

Bound for Glory Series Match – Rob Van Dam vs. Crimson

I like the Bound for Glory Series in concept, but randomly just throwing out matches on Pay-Per-View with no real build is an odd strategy. Crimson is going in undefeated so they could certainly play that up and the crowd is into RVD so this could be entertaining.

Bound for Glory Series Match – “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero vs. Devon

THIS is the best they could do, for a pay-per-view? Yikes.

Well, at least it should be better than last year’s show! Join me on Sunday night starting at 8 p.m. for live coverage right here on the Pulse!

I grew up and now I write for Inside Pulse. Oh, and one time I saw a blimp!
