Suffering from the giant gaping hole he received in his chest courtesy of Thor, Thing is left to die in a building until Franklin and Val Richards show up. Ben is willing to submit to his fate, his death, he feels that he deserves it for the things he did.
He isn’t given the option though, as Franklin reminds him of something. That he is ridiculously powerful to the point where he promised his parents that he wouldn’t use his powers.
Thankfully, Franklin lied. Ben’s life is saved and he is returned to normal.
