News

Gilbert Melendez has yet another contender for his Strikeforce Lightweight title as the champion will face off against Jorge Masvidal according to trainer Cesar Gracie.

In an exclusive interview with the site, Gracie told MMA Fighting that no date had been set but that the match details were already in the works. Currently, Strikeforce hasn’t announced any fight cards past September 23rd’s Strikeforce Challengers 19, but one can assume that the organization is targeting November or December for the fight.

Melendez is coming off of a 3+ minute TKO victory over Tatsuya Kawajiri, marking his 5th straight win. He moved to 19-2 with the result.

The brash Masvidal is coming off a big win over KJ Noons, setting him up as the number one contender with an overall record of 22-6.
