David Lynch’s Blue Velvet coming to Blu-Ray

In what is sure to make David Lynch fans smile gleefully, MGM has announced that it will release a combo pack (Blu-ray/DVD) of the auteur’s cult crime thriller Blue Velvet (1986).

The film stars a young Kyle MacLachlan, Isabella Rossellini, Laura Dern, and Dennis Hopper. Lynch’s look at the seedy underbelly of small American towns begins when Jeff (MacLachlan) discovers a severed ear while walking home one day and is soon drug into a strange world where he is in way over his head.

Velvet is easily one of Lynch’s stongest efforts with Hopper delivering an exceptional performance. Watch the clip below to hear his character’s thoughts on Heineken vs Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Exact technical spec and region coding status for this release are still unknown, but release date set by the studio is November 8th.
