George Clooney Out Of Steven Soderbergh’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E

Casting News, News

In what’s a fairly big shocker, George Clooney is withdrawing from Steven Soderbergh’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E per Deadline Hollywood.

The two in the past have combined to work on the Ocean 11 trilogy, Solaris, The Good German and Out of Sight so it’s relative shocker that Clooney would pull out. No specific reason was given for Clooney’s withdrawal from the project.

What does it mean? This is an odd decision by Clooney, to pull out of a project with a director he’s worked with in acting, directing and producing capacities, but it might not be a bad thing. Clooney’s a busy guy between all three roles he plays in Hollywood and he might be either trying to slot in something else or taking a break from his duties. It does open the door for someone else to jump into the role of Napoleon Solo in what could be a potential star-making film. Clooney was attached and the man has a rare knack for picking good parts; one imagines someone like Jeremy Renner could step in. Armie Hammer is now free, with The Lone Ranger shut down, so he could be a possibility as well.
