Lionsgate has announced a special sneak preview screening program for inspirational sports drama “Warrior” this weekend. The screenings will be held on Sunday, September 4th at 7:00 pm at theaters nationwide. The film is the second from director Gavin O’Connor to look at the world of MMA: He did a documentary entitled “The Smashing Machine” that chronicled the struggles of former UFC tournament champion and early Pride competitor Mark Kerr, for HBO to much acclaim.
The film follows a former boxer (Nick Nolte), whose alcoholism tore apart his family, as he welcomes back his youngest son (Tom Hardy). It’s for a purpose, though: to train him to compete in a mixed martial arts tournament amongst the best middleweights in the world. This path that puts the son on a collision course with his older brother (Joel Edgerton), fighting to save the life he’s forged with his family.
