Yippee-kay-yay! Everybody’s favorite smart-talking, terrorist-killing supercop, John McClane isn’t quite ready to ride into the sunset wearing one of Roy Rogers’ sequin shirts. 20th Century Fox has been looking at directors these last few months to helm the fifth installment in the Die Hard action franchise.
The list included such directors as John Moore (Max Payne), Justin Lin (Fast Five), Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive) and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block). That last name is a bit of a surprise considering that Block was Cornish’s debut as a feature filmmaker.
Fox has decided to go with John Moore, who also directed the films Behind Enemy Lines Flight of the Phoenix, and The Omen (2006) for the studio.
Skip Woods, who most recently penned the scripts for X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The A-Team, is writing the screenplay that is said to feature McClane’s son, with some saying Fox may be setting up a passing of the baton.
I don’t know those “some” may be, but there should be no baton passing – just create a different franchise if that’s the case. Also, can you show some love for Reginald Vel Johnson. And by love I don’t mean indulging him with Twinkies.
