WWE ’12 Roster Profiles: The Road Warriors

Media, News, Video

For this wrestling profile we look at the legendary tag team The Road Warriors. When you think of dominate tag teams in terms of brutal strength The Road Warriors are one of the first teams to come up. Their look, inspired by the film Mad Max, would help Road Warrior Hawk and Road Warrior Animal grow in popularity as they tore through the tag divisions in the NWA and AWA, where they won multiple tag straps as well as the Crockett Cup in 1986. When the spiky shoulder-pad wearing pair entered the World Wrestling Federation as The Legion of Doom in August 1990 the team battled Demolition before finally winning tag team gold at SummerSlam 1991 against The Nasty Boys. With that victory they became the only duo to hold the tag team titles in AWA, NWA and WWF. The team would later return to WCW in 1996 and square off against The Steiners, Harlem Heat and the tag team combination of Sting & Lex Luger. The following year they had a short run in the WWF and in the process won their second World Tag Team Championships.

Seeing that World Wrestling Entertainment is at a point now where it has devalued the importance of its Tag Team Championship, it’s great to see that The Road Warriors have been included in WWE ’12. The below videos have the single player entrances of both Road Warrior Hawk and Road Warrior Animal plus their finishers as single competitors. So it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer to see some tag-team footage and their Doomsday Device.

WWE ’12 will be available for the Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii systems beginning November 22, 2011.
