Avengers – X-Sanction Mini-Series in December by Loeb and McGuinness

News, Press Releases

Marvel had another one of their Next Big Thing press conferences.  This time it was for Avengers: X-Sanction!  Check out the preview image (which is awesome):

Avengers – X-Sanction is a four issue mini-series that starts in December. It will be written by Jeph Loeb with art by Ed McGuiness.

Loeb said, “I always saw Cable as very much the Captain America of the X-Men. A soldier from out of time who cared deeply for the people he worked with.”

That said…I don’t see Cap as having done this:

Loeb goes on to tease, “How Cable survived Second Coming and what his responsibility is to his daughter, Hope, may have something to do with the Avengers…”

Editor Tom Brevoort added, “The idea of Cable as a man out to protect his daughter by any means necessary gives the character an emotional heft and underlines everything he does. It’s richly fulfilling.”

Apparently, Cable: X-Sanction sets the stage for big happenings in the Marvel Universe 2012. I loved Loeb’s work on Cable back in the day, so this does sound really cool.

That said, I really hope it’s not going to be part of another big event. During the press conference, they mentioned, “EiC Axel Alonso has noted that it’s no coincidence that Children’s Crusade, Fear Itself and Schism all end around the same time, so who knows?”

I just know that I am tired of all the epic story telling. It’s exhausting.
