Inside Pulse Exclusive with WWE Legend Shawn Michaels

Features, Top Story

Yesterday afternoon, I was fortunate enough to get to spend an hour chatting and playing video games with Shawn Michaels in promotion for the new Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012 video game (read my preview for more with Shawn right here. Shawn, of course, was involved thanks to his own show, MacMillan River Adventures. Rather than just re-hash what everyone already knows about Shawn, I thought I’d give you my impressions of him as a person, as well as a nugget he dropped which leads me to believe he’ll be the rare wrestler who stays retired. And if you’re wondering, he kicked my butt at the video game.

Shawn is an extremely friendly guy who seems entirely comfortable in his own skin. He’s got a distinct charisma, even a cockiness, but what struck me most is that this was a happy man, a man at peace. He has been doing press events for a long time, so that’s nothing new, but he was also seemingly extremely happy to be off the road and have more time at home. He isn’t idle though, as in addition to promotional work of this time, he has MacMillan River Adventures. His hunting is now all in front of a camera, but, really, he clearly wouldn’t have it any other way:

“Hunting and getting ourselves into tight spots give me the same thrill as a crowd, or, say, climbing up a ladder.” At this point Shawn paused and looked a bit uncomfortable for a moment, relating “Even though you know it’s not a good idea at the time, it’s cool to look back at and know that you did it – that was you.”
