NFL 2011 Week 2 Thoughts and Commentary: Arizona Cardinals – 21, Washington Redskins – 22

Arizona Cardinals – 21, Washington Redskins – 22

Rhett Davis: This was a close game that ultimately came down to a field goal in the last few minutes to decide the fate.  The Redskins are off to a great start with winning both of their first two games.  Rex Grossman had a good day again with 291 yards and 2 TD’s despite throwing 2 Interceptions as well.

Grey Scherl: Kevin Kolb will save Arizona? Well, he’s not bad to have around, and coupled with Larry Fitzgerald and Jeff King he does look pretty good. But I want to see him take on a real challenge, because no offense to the Redskins, but I want to see if Kolb can withstand getting the shit knocked out of him. The Redskins, on the other hand, are one of those big surprises of the season who are doing leaps and bounds better than anyone would have expected. Rex Grossman is playing better than I would have expected…which isnt’ saying much since he threw as many picks as he did TDs. Still, he’s keeping this written off team competitive. That takes some sort of ability, right? Hightower and Helu ran wild on Arizona, even if neither made it into the endzone, Wells scored on the Redskins but was held to double digits.

Daniels: At the very least we’ll avoid the media storyline of “Rex Grossman did lead a team to the Super Bowl” this week.

Glazer: So, that was close.  It’s tough to really draw conclusions here – neither team looked great, but Kolb is officially at least good, and the Skins are better than expected.  It’s probably best to not get too excited about them beating two bad teams.  Arizona, by virtue of their division and losing close, still seems like a threat to win their division.  Neither team is actually good, but the loser here has a shot to make the playoffs.  The winner can maybe sneak into a wildcard, but does anyone think they can topple the Cowboys, let alone the Eagles?  I mean hey, Rex Grossman did lead a team to the Super Bowl.
