Skitch Commentary: – Seriously? Who is going to pay 130 bucks for the 52 covers in a hardcover book? Yeah, there were some nice covers, but if someone has that kind of cash to drop, they could give a little to me!
– The books I am most looking forward to are Stormwatch, Animal Man, Detective and Green Arrow. I’m also happy to be able to pick up the first sieeus for Justice League International, OMAC, Batwing, Swamp Thing, Static Shock, and Hawk and Dove for 2 bucks each. Yey for digital price drops! And Red Lanterns seems to have drifted from week 2 to week 1 this month (no Batgirl this week…I assume it slipped back to week 2). Odd.
– DC goes up to “the new 54” with Penguin and Huntress mini-series starting. If they are available digitally, I will be checking out Huntress, not really sure about Penguin, he’s always been a hit or miss character to me.
– Never saw the show, but I do think it’s cool that Supernatural is getting a miniseries from DC.

Grey Commentary: – Avengers 1959 is Howard Chaykin continuing one of my least favorite Avengers plots from the past year or so where Bendis randomly threw together a bunch of characters and said that they were actually the original Avengers. Kraven the Hunter, Ulysses Bloodstone, Namora, Sabretooth, Dominic Fortune, Silver Sable, and of course, they’re led by Nick Fury. Yes, those are the retcon Avengers.
– Superior has been plagued by delays, but honestly, I’d recommend it to everyone once it hits trade. Sure, Mark Millar can be hit or miss for some fans, but his take on a Captain Marvel like character in the real world is pretty interesting. Hopefully the delays are a thing of the past, because I can’t remember when the last issue dropped.
– X-23 is one of the unsung heroes of the X-line, consistently one of the best books under the banner, and one that I imagine most people have completely overlooked. Laura is one of the most interesting characters at Marvel right now, and it’s all because Marjorie Liu is doing such a great job here. Her teaming up with Spider-Man and the Invisible Woman has been making for a great arc.
– X-Men Schism is finally over! Scott and Logan are going to fight while a massive Sentinel threatens to destroy Utopia! Will it maintain the quality of last issue? Or will it bring back the Kiddie Hellfire Club of awfulness? But hey, at least this means that Regenesis is almost here!
– I don’t normally talk trades, but that X-Cutioner’s Song hardcover is sexy.
Skitch Commentary: X-Cutioner’s Song was actually my first real comic book crossover, and it still holds a special place in my heart. I read it not that long ago, and it still holds up great after all these years, which is more than I can say for most comic stories. 50 bucks for the hardcover does seem very high for 12 comics, all of which you could probably find in dollar bins at any decent convention. Definitely shop around, Barnes and Noble seems to have it for 30 bucks.
