In an early announcement to retailers, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has given a Blu-ray release date for its summer hit The Help. The small fish in a sea of summer blockbusters, The Help has gone on to gross close to $160 million domestically, which is pretty impressive for a film with a strong female presence. Now after its successful run it will head to DVD and Blu-ray on December 6th.
Based on the #1 New York Times bestseller by Kathryn Stockett, The Help is an empowering story about very different and extraordinary women in the 1960s South who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project. Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Bryce Dallas Howard star.
The Blu-ray release will be made available as a 3-Disc Combo (with Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy) with a SRP of $44.99, or a 2-Disc Combo with the Digital Copy removed. The SRP of the 2-Disc is $39.99. The film will carry 5.1 DTS Master Audio with a 1.85:1 anamoprhic widescreen presentation.
Supplemental material will feature deleted scenes, a music video, and two featurettes (“The Making of The Help: From Friendship To Film,” and “In Their Own Words: A Tribute To the Maids Of Mississippi”).
