Summit Entertainment To Adapt Norwegian Crime Thriller Headhunters

News, Projects

Summit Entertainment’s origins may date back to 1991, but it is definitely the studio that the Twilight franchise has built. However, when its release The Hurt Locker won an Oscar for Best Picture, the studio proved that it was more about sparkling vampires and werewolves.

Now Summit has made a deal to acquire the English-language movie rights for the international bestselling crime thriller Headhunters, by Norwegian author Jo Nesbø. The novel, recently published in the U.S., centers on the escapades of a high-living corporate headhunter who steals artwork from his rich clients to finance his expensive lifestyle. But when a heist goes wrong, he discovers he’s in way over his head in a murderous scheme.

The rights were acquired from Yellow Bird, the Swedish production company that also produced Stieg Larsson’s Millenium Trilogy starring Noomi Rapace. Yellow Bird adapted Headhunters into a hit Scandinavian film, which opened in Norway back in August.
