After his original UFC 137 opponent Carlos Condit was promoted to the main event and got an immediate UFC Welterweight title shot at Georges St-Pierre, BJ Penn had every reason to be annoyed. He was in the middle of his training camp and lost the fight that he was preparing for. The man who caused the mess, Nick Diaz (who lost his main event slot after two missed press conferences and some very erratic behavior) became Penn’s new opponent at the event. Having since found out that the winner of the Penn-Diaz fight will be in contention for the UFC Welterweight title, it adds an extra layer of incentive to the fight.
UFC 137 takes place October 29, 2011 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
