Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes Blu-ray Announced & Detailed

Disc Announcements, News

In an early announcement to retailers, Fox Home Entertainment says Rise of the Planet of the Apes will make its debut on Blu-ray, DVD, and as a digital download on December 13th in North America. Internationally, the film will arrive a week earlier on December 7th.

James Franco may be billed as the headlining star, but it is the digital effects by WETA Digital, the team behind The Lord of the Rings and Avatar that is most remembered. The combination of Andy Serkis’ brilliant motion-captured performance and the look of the CGI ape is extraordinary and shows how much technology has advanced in the period from Rings to now.

Traditionally, August is a month where studios release something hoping to catch fire. Rise of the Planet of the Apes did to the tune of $423 million worldwide. If you missed it, the filmmakers and Fox Home Entertainment have included plenty of supplemental material to sweeten the deal on Blu-ray.
