You have to love Nick Diaz. Only a guy with that level of talent could find himself in the main event of a card he was pulled from already, costing himself millions in the process. With a remarkable video about it already from his perspective as he drove during a crazy period of time, he gave up a desire to box professionally to step into the UFC.
And on the eve of perhaps his biggest fight ever, he’s been open about his desire to box. Again. A great interview from USA Today has spotlighted some rather interesting thoughts Diaz had yesterday.
“If I had my chance to do it over again, I would have gone back to the boxing contract,” Diaz said Wednesday. “It would have paid me more money. … Later on, I’m sure they would have had me back here.”
“I would have made plenty of money in boxing and would have made plenty of money later coming back” to MMA, Diaz also said. “It definitely would have worked out if I had done what I set out to do and just gone to pro boxing for awhile.”
